Waterfalls
Bornholm is the only place in Denmark with natural waterfalls. The island’s rocky bedrock, rift valleys and significant differences in elevation create unique conditions where streams plunge over steep rock faces in several places.
Among the most impressive are the almost 20-metre-high Døndalefald, Gedebæksfaldet in Ekkodalen and the dramatic Pissebækken waterfall near the coast. Together with the island’s more secluded waterfalls, they offer a wide variety of nature experiences in forests, rift valleys and along the rocky coastline.
The waterfalls are particularly impressive in spring and after periods of heavy rainfall, when the streams carry the most water. Several are located along scenic hiking trails and can be combined with visits to some of Bornholm’s most fascinating natural areas.
