Risebækken Waterfall is located on southern Bornholm near Skelbro, where the stream flows through varied terrain before reaching the coast. The area is known for its geological characteristics and is protected to preserve its scientific value.
The waterfall itself is relatively small, with a drop of around 2–3 metres. It forms where the stream cuts through layers of shale, giving the area a distinct and rugged appearance. At times, stones and water may be coloured by ochre, caused by natural processes in the ground.
The experience of the waterfall is closely linked to its surroundings. Risebækken runs through a narrow, wooded valley with varied vegetation, and in spring the area is known for its rich plant life, with wood anemones covering the forest floor.
Access is typically from the area near Skelbro along Søndre Landevej, where parking is available. From here, paths follow the stream towards the coast. To reach the waterfall itself, one walks a short distance along the beach towards the north-west and then follows the stream inland again. The waterfall is located approximately 100 metres from where the stream meets the sea.
Risebækken Waterfall is therefore not a large or dramatic waterfall, but part of a wider natural area where geology, water and landscape come together, making the walk itself an essential part of the experience.
