Penyllan is located directly by the harbour in Tejn and is one of Bornholm’s most distinctive breweries. Here, the focus is on small batches, slow maturation in wooden barrels and beer that ferments with naturally occurring yeast cultures, developing great complexity over time.
The brewery was founded by Jessica and Christian Andersen and is known for its barrel-aged beers, which are allowed to develop slowly in used wine and spirits barrels. Many of the beers take on character from local fruits and berries, adding acidity, depth and an expression that sets Penyllan apart from more traditional breweries.
In the bar and shop at Tejn Harbour, visitors can taste beers on tap, buy bottles to take home and experience the atmosphere of a working brewery with views of the harbour. Penyllan also hosts regular events such as tastings, brewery tours, communal dinners and special beer evenings.
It is a place for curious beer enthusiasts – but also for anyone who wants to experience a more experimental and craft-driven side of Bornholm’s food and drink culture.
