Bornholm
– The Sunshine Island with the most hours of sunshine and the least rainfall in Denmark
Despite its small size, Bornholm offers a wealth of scenic coastlines and striking landscapes. On the northern coast you encounter dramatic cliffs and steep rock faces that create an impressive view across the blue sea. The east coast is also rocky, but here the landscape is gentler and more accessible. To the south you find a completely different experience: wide, soft sandy beaches considered among the best in the world, where both visitors and locals gather to enjoy the sun and the sea. The west coast, with the island’s largest town Rønne, combines the charm of a historic market town with beautiful natural surroundings.
Along the entire coastline of Bornholm you will find walking trails winding through the landscape as well as cosy small harbour towns, each with its own unique history and atmosphere. The interior of the island offers lush and varied nature with forests, lakes and numerous historical sights. At the heart of Bornholm lies Almindingen, Denmark’s fifth largest forest, where you can walk through magnificent nature and experience the island’s wildlife up close.
Bornholm is full of places to explore, unforgettable experiences and sights waiting to be discovered.
