Fräulein

– and they've even played at Wonder!

Anna, Emil and Jeppe met in Odense eight years ago and discovered they were made for each other. But the creative energy of their new friendship only really came to life during a later trip to a summer cottage – a trip that would end up defining their future.

It was there that their entrepreneurial egos went from running in different directions like three wild horses to pulling together as one team.

They went from envying each other to respecting one another, channelling their individual strengths into something greater together. Before long, they had written 10 songs.

Once those boundaries had been broken down, they went on to write 100 songs in a single year.

The band, made up of the three good friends, has won competitions organised by both Jelling Festival and Tinderbox, where the trio received the majority of votes from both the jury and the audience.

Their debut album produced a couple of radio hits, particularly the single Hvad vil du ha'. The band then wrote the World Cup song Vi gør det hele igen for the Danish women's national football team.

The band has played plenty of live shows, and performances at SPOT Festival, supporting acts such as Love Shop, and appearances at summer festivals including Smukfest, Wonderfestiwall, Jelling and Midtfyn have opened even more doors for them.

In 2026, the trio are beginning a new chapter, releasing new songs across several EPs that will eventually come together as an album.

Anna – vocals and guitar
Anna grew up in Esbjerg surrounded by her father's fascination with American hot rods, with rockabilly and Lynyrd Skynyrd blasting from the stereo. But a concert by The Police in Aarhus became a turning point in her life. That very same day, she bought a guitar and set off in pursuit of her dreams. Anna has also played drums in a punk band and, when she was quite young, sported green hair, studs and a mohawk as she rebelled against her comfortable, middle-class upbringing.

Her influences include Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush, Jack Antonoff, Taylor Swift, Lorde, Anne Linnet, Linda Perry, Portishead, Bruce Springsteen, The Cure and Fleetwood Mac.

Emil – bass, guitar and keyboards
Like Anna, Emil grew up listening to Green Day during his teenage years, and their combination of energy and melody left a lasting impression. “My dad took me to a Kashmir concert when I was 11, and it completely blew me away.”

He grew up in a family of schoolteachers and was sent to piano lessons in his first year of school with the strict Lilian. Later, he picked up his father's newly purchased guitar, which opened up a whole new direction for him. At 16, he won the title of best guitarist at an Emergenza music competition – in true crowdsurfing style. In the end, though, it was the bass guitar that really captured his heart.

Emil draws inspiration from Royal Blood, The Big Bang, D-A-D, Kashmir, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Simon & Garfunkel, Bonnie Light Horseman, Goldfish, Green Day, Diana Krall, Chet Baker and The Beatles.

Jeppe – drums
Like Emil, Jeppe grew up in Odense with music all around him, and he had drumsticks in his hands before he could even walk. At the age of 10, his passion for drumming really took off when he began lessons. Soon afterwards, his parents spent part of their limited student grants on a drum kit, and his path was set.

Since meeting Emil and Anna eight years ago, everything has fallen into rhythm, not least during the pandemic, when he practised drums for up to five hours a day while the band was unable to meet and play together.

His influences include Fleetwood Mac, Radiohead, Stanley Donwood, Michael Strunge, Kate Bush, Future Islands, Patti Smith, Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie and Prince.

The name Fräulein
Pronounced roughly “froy-line”. Despite the German umlaut and diminutive ending, the band is Danish through and through. They had been invited to meetings at several record labels but still hadn't come up with a band name. Then, while walking up the stairs to one of those meetings, an incoming text message from a female friend in Germany sparked a conversation that led to the name.

A little extra about Fräulein
“We're all massive nerds who love playing weird board games and PlayStation – and above all, we're absolutely crazy about Star Wars. Another thing we all have in common is a love of good coffee.”

Antonio Dayyani Sextet

– Organisme – Album Release Tour

Antonio Dayyani (born in 2000) began his journey as a composer and bandleader in 2022 with his debut album Herfra kan det kun gå to veje. Since then, he has toured extensively with his music and his sextet, performing at venues and festivals throughout Denmark and the rest of Europe.

The music performed by Dayyani's sextet is living proof that something truly special can emerge when differences are given room to flourish. Listeners are drawn into a musical world that embraces jazz, Americana, rock, gentle melancholy, vibrant improvisation and much more.

Both his debut album Herfra kan det kun gå to veje (2022) and its follow-up Trop op (2024) were named by Jazznyt among the 10 best Danish jazz releases of their respective years. Music from both albums has also received regular airplay on DR P8 and numerous international radio stations.

Now the Danish drummer with the Iranian surname is ready with his third album, Organisme, a musical and poetic portrait of human sensitivity and emotion that truly sets Dayyani free as both a drummer and a composer. To celebrate the release, Antonio Dayyani Sextet are heading out on an album release tour across Denmark and Germany, looking forward to transforming Svanekegaarden into a musical sanctuary filled with intimacy, curiosity and love.

Total Hip Replacement

– Warm, pulsating grooves and powerful brass

Vinterjazz 2027

With a unique blend of Ghanaian highlife, reggae, dub and soul, Total Hip Replacement & Anyankofo bring warm, pulsating grooves and powerful brass to Danish venues in spring 2027. With roots in Denmark and Ghana, they create a dynamic and hopeful sound, while their messages are direct, addressing the troubling direction in which the world is heading. On stage, the nine-piece collective creates an inclusive atmosphere bubbling with infectious playfulness.

The years 2022–2026 have been an explosive period for the band. The release of their first Danish-Ghanaian album, Anyankofo, led to extensive tours across Europe, South America and West Africa. Both the album and their live performances have received excellent reviews in music magazines and on radio, culminating in successful appearances at legendary European festivals such as Bout du Monde (France) and Reggae Jam (Germany).

Now the band are ready with their second album, Ehum. The album took shape on the road – through touring, travels in Ghana and jam sessions with musicians from both Ghana and Denmark. After years of friendship and musical exchange, the band delve even deeper into the meeting of their different cultural roots, creating a new shared musical language.

Ehum marks the beginning of another great musical journey. First, the band will travel along the West African coast, performing in Senegal, Ivory Coast and Ghana. Europe follows, with the band bringing fresh inspiration, euphoria and plenty of warmth to Danish venues in February and March 2027.

The concert is organised in collaboration between Musikhuzet, Svanekegaarden and ØstersøJazz.

About the album Ehum (released on 27 November 2026)

Highlife, reggae and dub from Denmark and Ghana – music created between places, people and traditions.

Ehum means “storm” in Fante, the language spoken by the three members of Total Hip Replacement & Anyankofo who come from Cape Coast. But the storm on the album is not simply a metaphor for turmoil. It also exists in the encounters between people, in the movement between Denmark and Ghana, and in the search for solid ground when things once believed to be certain begin to shift.

This is the starting point for Ehum, the second album by the nine-piece Danish-Ghanaian collective. Created on the road, in recording studios and through countless jam sessions, the album is the result of a musical collaboration that has been allowed to develop naturally over time and across continents.

Ghanaian highlife, reggae, dub and collective improvisation come together in a sound that is both deeply rooted and distinctly contemporary. The music is built on rhythm, interaction and curiosity, but also on the questions that arise when people with different histories and backgrounds try to create something together.

Following Anyankofo in 2022, the band take another step into this shared musical space. With contributions from Florence Adooni and her band, Nsoroma from Santrofi, Kwame Yeboah and West African reggae legend Tiken Jah Fakoly, Ehum becomes an album about roots and movement, identity and belonging, inequality, hope and the importance of maintaining our connections with other people.

Hvalfugl

– Vibrant intimacy, ambient soundscapes and lyrical melodies

VINTERJAZZ 2027

A vibrant musical presence, ambient soundscapes and powerful melodies come together beautifully when the trio Hvalfugl take the stage. Jonathan Fjord Bredholt's elegant piano figures and ethereal harmonium textures intertwine with Jeppe Lavsen's crystal-clear guitar themes and Anders Juel Bomholt's gently swaying double bass, creating both a sense of unity and a wealth of intricate detail – and an unusually captivating live experience.

About Hvalfugl (2026)

Hvalfugl are a trio from Aarhus whose music is characterised by a vibrant sense of presence, ambient soundscapes and lyrical melodies. Since their debut in 2017, the trio have established themselves as one of Denmark's most distinctive instrumental groups, with a sound that moves freely between genres. Hvalfugl combine closely intertwined musicianship with dreamy ambient textures and unhurried musical passages, allowing beautiful melodies to unfold slowly for the listener.

The trio consists of Jonathan Fjord Bredholt (piano and harmonium), Jeppe Lavsen (guitar) and Anders Juel Bomholt (double bass). Their interplay balances warm acoustic sounds with the subtle use of effects, creating a distinctive musical expression that feels both intimate and compelling.

As a live band, Hvalfugl are known for their presence and ability to create an immersive experience. Audiences are invited into a musical world of sublime beauty, where compositions are woven together into seamless, engaging passages that both move and inspire. Their live performances earned them particular recognition in 2025, when they received the Live Act of the Year award at DMA Jazz.

Over the years, Hvalfugl have established themselves as a trio that continually develop their musical world and explore new directions. Their first three albums, By (2017), Som En Faldskærm (2019) and Øjeblikke Vi Husker (2020), laid the foundations for their dreamy, atmospheric sound. Their latest double LP, Bag Vore Øjne Strømmer Drømme Sagte Forbi (2025), brings together three years of work and EP releases in a single collection. Driven by curiosity and a desire to experiment with new musical ideas and guest musicians, they add even more unique elements to the trio's distinctive sound.
