Four striking traces of the Iron Age in the woodland near Gudhjem

A short walk from Gråmyr, four prominent standing stones rise among the trees in Gudhjem Plantage. The protected stones date from the Iron Age and form part of an area with several prehistoric monuments, including burial cairns and round barrows.

The standing stones are approximately 1.75 to 2.1 metres high and are scattered through the small woodland. Together with the surrounding burial monuments, they offer a glimpse of a landscape that was used for burials and memorials many hundreds of years ago.

A visit to the stones is easy to combine with a walk to Gråmyr. From the lake, the path continues through the woodland to the standing stones, which stand quietly among the trees and make this a fascinating little destination for a walk around Gudhjem.
