From 10 to 13 September, Litteraturens Folkemøde 2026 brings together authors, debaters and other literary voices at Møbelfabrikken in Nexø. The programme features talks, readings and conversations about books, authorship and the importance of literature. This year’s theme is Veje du kan – eller ikke kan – vælge (“Paths you can – or cannot – choose”), and the connection to Martin Andersen Nexø lies in social indignation and the ability to write from the heart.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the programme begins with morning singing from the Danish Højskolesangbogen songbook, accompanied by Olav Elvang, followed by a short text by Martin Andersen Nexø read by Henrik Yde.

During Svaneke Market Days, the town square comes alive with local stalls and a warm market atmosphere. Here you can explore Bornholm products, crafts, plants, jewellery, ceramics, knitwear, honey and much more.
The market days are also a great opportunity to take a relaxed walk through Svaneke, enjoy the town’s beautiful streets, visit shops and galleries, and experience the special summer atmosphere that makes the town one of Bornholm’s most charming places. There is often music and small festive features on the square, helping to create a lively and relaxed atmosphere in the heart of the town.

On 12–13 September 2026, Golfskabet, Ringkjøbing Landbobank and Gudhjem Golfklub – Rø Golfbaner invite you to a fantastic golfing weekend on Bornholm, where up to 100 pairs will come together for two days of golf, good company, competitions and memorable experiences.

Tournament format
Format of play:
The tournament will be played as Betterball Stableford.
You choose your own playing partner, who may be:
- a friend
- a spouse or partner
- a family member
- a colleague
- or a good golfing partner
It is also possible to register as an individual, in which case you will be allocated a playing partner on the day.
We will always ensure that a reserve player is available, so that every participant can take part in the tournament.
Handicap
Players of all handicaps may participate, subject to a maximum handicap of 54.

Places are limited to a maximum of 100 pairs, and registration will close when the tournament is fully booked – or no later than 7 days before the tournament begins.
Places will therefore be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Bornholm can be reached by both air and ferry, with several different travel options available.
We recommend booking your transport well in advance, as it is often less expensive.
We work with several hotels and accommodation providers on Bornholm. There are also many holiday homes, holiday apartments and other accommodation options that you can find independently.

On Saturday 12 September, SMEDJEN is hosting an end-of-season party to empty the bar and celebrate the fantastic summer we’ve had.
Free beer will be served from 5:00–5:45 pm.
There will be a BBQ buffet from 5:30–7:00 pm, followed by a concert with John Mogensen Live, who will get everyone dancing💃 (7:00–9:00 pm), and then music bingo (9:00–11:00 pm).
Among all ticket holders, 3 x 2 tickets to Kandis at Smedjen in 2027 will be raffled off.

The lead singer has John Mogensen’s look, voice and charisma! They recreate the great party atmosphere of the time, and as a member of the audience at John Mogensen Live, you are instantly transported back to a colourful era when there was both “fut i fejemøget” and “noget galt i Danmark”.
The day before his far too early death, John Mogensen made a very simple recording of the melody for his wife Ruth’s deeply heartfelt and thought-provoking lyrics, “Hvad er der så mer”. It became the final full stop to a life and career that left us with a musical legacy which, many years later, remains strong and very much alive.

FossilFestival on Bornholm invites you to explore the island’s fascinating past.
Across Denmark, museums, associations, visitor centres and experts open their doors to exciting activities for curious children and adults when FossilFestival takes place on 19 September. Discover how fossils tell the story of Denmark’s prehistoric past and the development of life over millions of years.

Fossil Hunt at Risebæk – Bornholm’s Wild Past and Most Beautiful Waterfall
Join us for an exciting walk along Risebæk, where Bornholm’s wild landscape hides stories stretching back millions of years. We will find shale containing graptolites, visit what many consider the island’s most beautiful waterfall and search for fossils in 490-million-year-old marine deposits. With a geological hammer, safety glasses and an experienced nature guide at hand, the whole family can enjoy a fun, educational and unusual nature experience.

Join a creative workshop at NaturBornholm where real climate data is transformed into sound. Together with sound researcher Ingeborg Okkels, you will create your own short climate composition and experience the interactive sound installation Sound of Science. The fascinating world of lichens unfolds when you simply take the time to look closely – and perhaps bring a magnifying glass to study the fine details of their structure and colours. We will take a walk in Rutsker Højlyng, an area with rocks, trees and heathland, all of which are good habitats for lichens. During the walk, the guide will give a basic introduction to how lichens live.
René L. Vilsholm, who will guide this walk, was editor of the book “Bornholms lav” and has worked extensively with these organisms.
