Borgedalssøen

Borgedalssøen
Borgedalssøen is one of the places that truly showcases the charm of Rø Plantation. The lake lies beautifully in a long rift valley surrounded by forest, cliffs and small viewpoints where the water reflects the landscape. The trail around the lake offers a scenic walk, and on the southern side you can, especially in spring and autumn, hear small streams and gentle cascades trickling down the rocks. It’s an ideal spot for peaceful moments, hiking and nature experiences, and fishing from the shore is allowed year-round with a valid fishing licence.
The lake is not naturally formed. After a severe storm in October 1967, large amounts of mature timber were blown down into the rift valley. To prevent the wood from rotting or being damaged by insects, the valley was filled with water, creating Borgedalssøen as a temporary storage area for the fallen trees.
