Glød Glas Studio

Glød Glas Studio
Glød Glas Studio near Balka, close to Nexø, is a small glass studio where classical techniques meet a contemporary design language in a working workshop environment.
Here, glass artists Tobias Sode and Lene Dahl Jacobsen work with mouth-blown glass, where each piece is shaped by hand and is unique. The workshop is open to visitors, offering the opportunity to follow the entire process at close range – from the glowing glass being taken from the furnace to its shaping with tools and craftsmanship into finished vases, bowls and other objects.
A key part of Glød Glas Studio’s work is the use of Venetian glass techniques, where glass rods and layers of colour are fused together to create distinctive patterns and variations in expression. The technique requires a high level of precision and experience and contributes to the unique visual depth of the pieces.
The overall expression combines traditional craftsmanship with modern Scandinavian design, where form and function go hand in hand. The result is glass that appears both simple and refined, with a clear focus on the possibilities of the material and the details of the craft.
Glød Glas Studio is run by Tobias Sode and Lene Dahl Jacobsen, both trained glassblowers who have worked with glass for many years, both in Denmark and internationally, before establishing their own studio on Bornholm.
Adjacent to the workshop is a gallery where the finished pieces are displayed. Here, visitors can experience the different techniques, colours and forms together – and gain insight into the work behind each individual piece of glass.
