Balka
Balka is a highly sought-after holiday area located between Nexø and Snogebæk. It is an ideal base for an unforgettable holiday with direct access to Balka Beach.
Balka is particularly known for its beautiful sandy beach with fine white sand and shallow waters, making it especially family-friendly. Both locals and holidaymakers gather here to enjoy relaxing days at the beach or take walks along the scenic coastline. During the summer season, lifeguards are on duty, and it is possible to hire surf equipment, pedal boats and sun loungers.
At the northern end of Balka Beach lies the small and charming Balka Harbour. From the pier, there are lovely views across the entire Balka Bay, and one can also see Lange Skanse and look towards Nexø Harbour.
North of Balka Harbour is the attractive natural area of Balka Lyng, Denmark’s only sandstone heath, where the 600-metre-long Lange Skanse stretches through the landscape. From here, it is possible to walk approximately 3 kilometres into Nexø, passing one of Bornholm’s finest birdwatching sites along the way. A birdwatching tower is available for improved views.
At the southern end of Balka Beach lies Snogebæk, a cosy fishing village offering a wide range of summer activities, restaurants, an iconic bar with live music, craftspeople, a smokehouse, shops and various local delicacies. Together, Snogebæk and Balka Beach are loved by many and form one of Bornholm’s most popular summer oases.
