Hammerhavn

Hammerhavn
Hammerhavn is located at the foot of Hammershus and the dramatic cliff coast of northwestern Bornholm. The harbour was built in 1891–1892 as a shipping port for granite from Hammeren, and traces of this period are still visible in its structure and placement within the rugged rocky landscape.
Today, Hammerhavn serves as a small harbour for leisure boats and visitors, offering facilities such as water, electricity, showers, toilets and waste-water disposal. A small sandy beach lies in the inner harbour, and the surrounding area is a natural starting point for both short and extended walks.
The harbour is also one of the best starting points for hikes in the area, where you can experience some of Bornholm’s most spectacular natural scenery. From here, the paths lead up onto Hammerknuden and continue towards Hammershus, offering views of the sea, cliffs and landscape that rank among the island’s most impressive.
Hammerhavn is also the departure point for local boat tours along the steep cliff coast. When the sea is calm, these trips can bring you close to remarkable rock formations, including the narrow entrance to the cave Våde Ovn. In this way, Hammerhavn brings nature, coastline and cultural history together in one striking location.
