Køppe Contemporary

Køppe Contemporary is an international gallery and presentation platform for sculptural objects at the intersection of art, design and craft. The gallery is located by Rønne Harbour and presents works by artists who take an investigative and experimental approach to materials such as ceramics, glass, wood, metal and textiles.

The gallery was founded by architect Bettina Køppe, who has many years of experience as a curator within contemporary objects. At Køppe Contemporary, works are presented at a high artistic level, where traditional techniques, the history of materials and the qualities of craftsmanship meet contemporary interpretations and personal artistic expressions.

Here you can experience both changing exhibitions and a selection of works by the gallery’s represented artists. What the works have in common is a strong understanding of materials, high craftsmanship and a clear interest in the meaning of the object – as form, narrative and artistic statement.

In connection with the gallery, the acclaimed ceramic artist Michael Geertsen has his studio. He is one of Denmark’s prominent ceramic artists and works with sculptural ceramics, where tradition, design history and the language of ceramics are challenged and reimagined in a contemporary expression.
