Rubinsøen (Ruby Lake) is a circular lake in Hasle Lystskov, south of Hasle. It lies in a former lignite (brown coal) pit, where coal was extracted during the Second World War. Between 1942 and 1948, more than 30,000 tonnes of lignite were mined here, and when the extraction ended, the deep pit gradually filled with water, forming today’s Rubinsøen.

The lake is surrounded by forest and steep slopes, giving the area a distinctive character. A marked trail circles the lake, offering several viewpoints over the water-filled pit and the surrounding woodland. The area is a popular destination, and tables and benches are available by the lake.

Rubinsøen is also known for pike fishing, with larger fish caught regularly. Fishing requires a valid permit.
