Sømarken strand

Sømarken strand
Sømarken Beach is located on South Bornholm west of Dueodde and stretches along a long, continuous coastline with dunes and sandy beach. The area is considered the starting point of the large dune and beach zone that continues around Dueodde all the way to Balka, and it lies approximately 26 km south of Rønne.
The beach is known for its varied sandy shoreline and large dune areas. The sand is slightly coarser than at Dueodde, and the water often becomes deep quite quickly, with several large rocks in the shallows that older children especially enjoy jumping from. Several descriptions point out that Sømarken usually has fewer visitors than the island’s most popular beaches, making it a calmer place to spend a day by the sea.
Sømarken is often divided into Østre and Vestre Sømark. In Østre Sømark you’ll find the small fishing hamlet Bakkerne Havn with its smokehouse and fisherman’s cottages, while Vestre Sømark mainly consists of holiday homes situated close to the dunes and the beach. The area around the shoreline features pine plantations, dune landscapes and open natural terrain.
In 2003, Sømarken was voted Bornholm’s best sandy beach by both visitors and local residents. Together with its proximity to the protected nature areas at Slusegård and Øle Å, Sømarken Beach is an attractive destination for beachgoers, holiday guests and anyone wishing to experience the dunes and coastal nature of South Bornholm.
