FossilFestival on Bornholm invites you to explore the island’s fascinating past.
Across Denmark, museums, associations, visitor centres and experts open their doors to exciting activities for curious children and adults when FossilFestival takes place on 19 September. Discover how fossils tell the story of Denmark’s prehistoric past and the development of life over millions of years.
On Bornholm, you can head out into nature, feel history beneath your feet and search for traces of a distant past yourself.

Fossil Hunt at Risebæk – Bornholm’s Wild Past and Most Beautiful Waterfall
Join us for an exciting walk along Risebæk, where Bornholm’s wild landscape hides stories stretching back millions of years. We will find shale containing graptolites, visit what many consider the island’s most beautiful waterfall and search for fossils in 490-million-year-old marine deposits. With a geological hammer, safety glasses and an experienced nature guide at hand, the whole family can enjoy a fun, educational and unusual nature experience.
