Østerlars is a small town located approximately 6 kilometres south of Gudhjem.
Østerlars is a former railway town on the Åkirkeby–Gudhjem line, which was closed in 1952.
Østerlars is today best known for Østerlars Church, which is the largest and most visited of Bornholm’s four round churches.
