Vang

Vang is an idyllic small harbour town surrounded by truly spectacular nature. The main street winds through the small community and down towards the harbour – a steep road with an average gradient of 7.2%.

The charming harbour area offers beautiful views towards Hammershus and Hammerknuden to the north, as well as the natural area of Ringebakker to the south. The atmosphere is difficult to describe – it really has to be experienced on a lovely summer’s day.

A short walk from Vang Harbour lies the Vang granite quarry, known for its distinctive Vang granite, which has been used in many places – including Christiansborg Palace during the reconstruction following the fire of 1884. In more recent times, the Vang quarry has also supplied granite for the Great Belt Bridge.

Vang is well worth a visit and offers both a rich history and some of the most beautiful natural scenery on Bornholm.
