Clapper

– Soul, UK jazz and the energy of instrumental hip-hop

Hailing from Aarhus, CLAPPER blend soul and UK jazz with the energy of instrumental hip-hop. The result is a musical world where rhythmic precision meets melodic freedom, driven by unconventional grooves, tempo changes and collective improvisation.

Since their debut album On Tempo (2023, Super Bad Disco / HHV) and the live release Under The Radar, the band have established themselves as a distinctive voice on the Scandinavian music scene. The band consists of Frederik Emil Bülow (drums), Adrian Christensen (bass), Jeppe Lavsen (guitar) and Malthe Jepsen (Rhodes and synth) – four accomplished musicians who also perform with bands such as Abekejser, Hvalfugl and İpek Yolu.

Their energetic live performances feature razor-sharp grooves, intense tempo changes and an infectious joy of playing together. Now they are coming to Svanekegaarden for a concert showcasing their new album With Friends.

With Friends is set for release on 6 November 2026 and expands CLAPPER's distinctive sound with contributions from an international line-up of guest artists, including Walter Smith III, Sanyu, Musina Ebobisse, Mathias Heise, Oilly Wallace, Ronja Rose Andersson and Jonas Due. Understandably, these guests will not be joining the concert, although several of them have performed at Svanekegaarden on previous occasions.

In true CLAPPER style, the album blends soul jazz with instrumental hip-hop and R&B, enriched by improvisations from some of today's finest musicians. From Walter Smith III's virtuoso saxophone solos and Sanyu's soulful vocals to Ronja Rose Andersson's atmospheric harmonies, each guest brings their own distinctive voice while remaining rooted in CLAPPER's collective sound.

“We've never been interested in fitting into any particular genre,” says guitarist Jeppe Lavsen. “The music comes from playing together, experimenting and trusting each other creatively. This album simply opened up the circle to friends we admire.”

As always, the quartet deliver dynamic arrangements, sharp rhythmic shifts and the electrifying live energy that has become one of the band's defining characteristics.

Politiken described a CLAPPER concert as “an almost perfect experience” and wrote that the band's music “engages both the mind and the heart”, while GAFFA observed that CLAPPER had proved that “a frontman is overrated”.

With Friends embraces precisely this spirit: less focus on the individual and more on connection, trust and shared musical creativity. This time, friendship takes centre stage.

Rockin' since 2006: Authentic 1950s and 1960s rock'n'roll – delivered with passion, energy and attitude.

Since 2006, The Heat-Makers have had one ambition: to bring the rock'n'roll of the 1950s and 1960s to life with authenticity and respect for the music. The band's signature sound is built around rich vocal harmonies and tight musicianship.
